Job Title: Manufacturing Machinery Maintenance TechnicianReporting to: Site Maintenance ManagerLocation: ReadingAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Machinery Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of manufacturing plant, which includes CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinding equipment. You will also manage contractors, support continuous improvements, and ensure all safety policies and procedures are adhered to.Key Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Machinery Maintenance Technician:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on CNC lathes, milling machines, grinding equipment, and other plant machinery.
  • Liaise with OEM suppliers and specialist contractors to diagnose critical machine faults, manage spare parts, and coordinate service requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of chillers, LEVs, conveyors, and other process-related equipment.
  • Manage contractor work by reviewing RAMS, issuing permits, and ensuring safety standards on-site.
  • Identify and implement plant and process improvements for efficiency.
  • Maintain and complete documentation on paper and electronic systems, ensuring compliance with auditing standards.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures at all times. Conduct investigations of safety events when necessary.
  • Review and introduce maintenance work instructions, risk assessments, and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Support and participate in workshops related to safety initiatives, continuous improvement, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
About You:
  • Multi-skilled, with experience in the automotive industry (or similar).
  • Mechatronics qualification is a plus.
  • HNC/ONC/C&G/apprenticeship in an engineering-related field.
  • IOSH or another relevant safety qualification.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team in a manufacturing environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of machinery safety systems (e.g., emergency stop circuits, guard interlocks).
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and circuit diagrams.
  • Willing to support the facilities department and work overtime when required.
