Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team, based on the University Campus in Reading. Reporting directly to the Payroll Director, you will play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy and delivering excellent customer service. You’ll join a friendly, supportive team and benefit from assigned parking directly outside the office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Manage and process both monthly and weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Handle statutory year-end returns, including P60s.
  • Payroll Data Management: Create, maintain, and update payroll records in line with business needs.
  • Query Resolution: Respond to employee payroll inquiries, providing clear and accurate information.
  • HMRC Compliance: Liaise with HM Revenue and Customs as needed, maintaining compliance with current legislation.
  • Statutory Payments: Process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and SAP.
  • Auto-Enrolment Pensions: Oversee the company’s auto-enrolment pension processes.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of client and employee payroll data.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience.
  • System Knowledge: Familiarity with SAGE Payroll or other computerized payroll systems is preferred.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of HMRC legislation, including NI rates and statutory payment guidelines.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word is essential.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours, especially during peak periods.
