As an Occupational Therapist at Reading Council, you will become an integral part of a welcoming and collaborative team. The Physical Disability and Older People team are looking for an experienced OT to support our existing OT team working on duty and holding a small case load.We are in search of an individual with excellent communication skills, capable of establishing and nurturing relationships with colleagues, service users, and healthcare providers. The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension.
Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist includes.
- Experience in moving and handling, single handed care, equipment provision and risk management is essential.
- Experience of completing functional assessments, moving and handling plans and mental capacity assessments when needed.
- This includes recommending equipment, suggesting adaptations, addressing mobility and handling issues, facilitating goal planning, and collaborating closely with care providers, Housing Services, and healthcare colleagues.
- A good understanding of the 2014 Care Act and moving and handling legislation is required.
- Have access to a car and will be expected to work at Reading's office base as well as at home.
- Complex moving and handling.
- Excellent knowledge, skills and experience with assessing for and making recommendations for major adaptations and complex equipment. Including preparing sketches, reading plans and providing detailed specifications for major works.
To Be Successful.
- Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the community.
- Previous experience working with major adaptations.
- Complex manual handling experience
- HCPC Registration
- Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Occupational Therapist Qualification
