MERJE is seeking a highly experienced senior Risk & Compliance professional to lead the provision of best-in-class compliance and risk management for a leading funeral planning organisation. This senior-level role requires a strategic thinker with extensive knowledge of FCA regulations and a proven track record in risk management.

£140,000 - £150,000

Location: Berkshire (3 days in office, 2 days wfh)

The Role

As the Risk & Compliance Director, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and play a crucial role in upholding and improving (when required) the organisation's risk and compliance strategies. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's regulatory framework and risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities of the Risk & Compliance Director:

  • Lead the provision of commercially focused, pragmatic Risk and Compliance advice to the business
  • Define and deliver the monitoring plan, including supporting external Compliance Reviews
  • Create, implement, and oversee the Enterprise Risk Management Framework
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and manage communications with regulators
  • Provide regulatory training and foster a risk-aware culture within the organisation

Required knowledge and experience for the Risk & Compliance Director role:

  • Previous experience in a senior Risk and Governance role within regulated environments (FCA & CMA)
  • Strong operational and commercial awareness with the ability to deliver pragmatic solutions to complex regulatory issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Degree educated or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of FCA handbook and CMA framework
