Are you a graduate with an interest in Psychology or Mental Health, looking to gain hands-on experience in a specialist educational setting? Academics LTD is working with a fantastic school in Reading, which provides high-quality, personalised support for children aged 5 to 18 with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school is searching for an empathetic and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Autism Specialist, working closely with SEN practitioners and psychologists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with external professionals, including psychologists, to provide tailored support
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation and social skills
  • Work with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Demonstrate an interest in working with children or in the field of SEN
  • Bring a positive, calm, and proactive attitude, with a strong interest in Psychology

This role offers a great opportunity for graduates to gain experience in an educational environment. Whether you're interested in a future career in Psychology, Mental Health, or Education, this position will help you develop essential skills. No prior experience is required, though qualifications such as a Degree or Level 3 qualification are beneficial.

You'll be working on a 1:1 or small group basis, supporting students with Autism, behavioural challenges, sensory issues, and communication difficulties. Many pupils also have coexisting mental health needs, making this an ideal role for anyone interested in starting a career in Mental Health.
