Assistant Buyer

Role: Assistant BuyerSalary/Rate: £ 24 per hr (inside IR35) Location: Hybrid ReadingContract Duration: 18 months

We are currently looking for an Assistant Buyer for our government client. This Assistant Buyer role is hybrid, based between up to 3 days per week on sites in the Reading area, and the remainder of the week working remotely.

The contract for the Assistant Buyer position is for 18-months with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: Security Check ("SC Clearance")

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Essential skills/experience required:

• Experience of Public Procurement Regulations
  • The Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (PCR 2015)
  • The Procurement Act 2023 (PA 2023)
• Knowledge of end-to-end public procurement
• Previous experience in a procurement/purchasing environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Stakeholder Management Skills

Desirable:

• Background in nuclear or Defence
• Jaggaer Sourcing system experience
• Experience of sourcing to contract
• CEMAR experience
• NEC 4 experience
• Experience of end-to-end tendering
• Experience of System Implementations

The Role:

• Processing orders
• Expediting orders
• Resolving invoice queries
• The end-to-end management of the Purchase to Pay activities for allocated categories
• Day to day buying activities, ensuring that demands are understood and met and issues are dealt with promptly.
• Supplier relationship and performance management to ensure on time delivery and payment of invoices.
• Data collection and validation of the Service Centre reporting within the allocated category structure.
• Identifying and acting on opportunities to improvements to ensure right first time and on time delivery and payment.
• Continuously maintain the Oracle Fusion housekeeping to ensure the accuracy of purchase order data.
• Developing and maintaining working relationships and awareness with internal Category Managers and other key internal stakeholders, to ensure processes are adhered to, ensuring prompt placement of orders, and all stake holders are made aware of any issues such as late deliveries and the impact.
• Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
• Promoting and ensuring the use of a fully evaluated and evaluated supply base.
• Working with key stakeholders to ensure the speedy resolution of queries, expediting of deliveries and closing overdue commitments.
