An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a UK leading building, infrastructure, engineering and fit out business. Their Water division is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial division to work on the Thames Water framework across the Thames Valley region.

The Role

  • Co-ordinate, report and implement reasonable directives of the Regional Director/Manager and the Commercial Manager (functional reporting) whilst being supported by a Managing Quantity Surveyor.
  • Ensuring the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter.
  • Liaise with Project Managers on the day-to-day basis for commercial administration of contracts to ensure the financial success of construction operations and to keep the MQS / Commercial Manager appraised of all material events.
  • Prepare accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approving such drafts as prepared by Commercial Team within the Region.
  • Ensuring consultation with contracts management that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner.
  • Ensuring that main contract payment applications contain all necessary admeasure/additional cost claims and that the timely submission of detailed claims and final accounts is achieved.
  • Assist Project Managers in the administration of sub-contractor performance to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into the sub-contract.
  • Ensuring prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and subsequent cash collection together with the preparation of sub-contractor payments (strictly in accordance with specified payment terms).
  • Involvement in dispute avoidance/resolution.
  • Responsible for managing meetings.

Education, skills and experience

  • BSc Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management / RICS desired
  • Demonstrate knowledge of previously working with CEMAR or COINS
  • Good knowledge of standard forms of contract
  • Ability to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and outturn financial forecasts
  • Good team player and able to work independently
  • Experience of working in the water industry highly desirable
