PSR are working with a leading Civil Engineering main contractor, who specialise in clean and waste water infrastructure and non infrastructure. Who are seeking a Senior QS / Commercial Manager to provide commercial support on a number of Thames Water projects.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager will oversee the financial and commercial management of multiple projects or a section of a larger project.

Your role will be key in mitigating financial risk, ensuring cost control, and maximising project profitability, while adhering to the company's commercial procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Director and Commercial Manager in financial and commercial matters.
  • Ensure timely submission and analysis of contract performance data.
  • Work closely with Contracts Managers to oversee project finances and report key developments.
  • Prepare and approve sub-contracts and manage sub-contractor performance.
  • Supervise and mentor junior commercial staff.
  • Ensure compliance with contract notices, claims, and payment applications.
  • Lead dispute resolution and contract negotiations with clients and suppliers.
  • Manage project meetings and provide regular financial reports.

Skills as a Senior Quantity Surveyor

Essential:

  • Strong commercial management experience in the Civil Engineering industry.
  • Proficient in contract management, valuation, and cost forecasting.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to draft sub-contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of CIS, dispute resolution, and risk assessment.
  • Experience in final accounts, value engineering, and procurement.
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing commercial teams.

Desirable:

  • Membership of RICS or a recognised professional body.
  • Experience in health, education, mixed-use, or commercial projects.
