About the Role: We are seeking a personable and ambitious Venue Manager to oversee operations at for our client in Reading. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, ensuring compliance (with a particular focus on responsible gambling) and managing team schedules. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their management career who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to lead from the front.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service, addressing client needs and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Manage compliance requirements, including responsible gambling practices.
  • Organise and manage team rotas, ensuring proper staffing and shift coverage.
  • Maintain operational standards, supporting and leading the team effectively.
  • Handle day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of the venue.

What We Are Looking For:

Soft Skills:

  • Personable, with a positive and approachable demeanor.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ambitious, with a drive to lead from the front.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a hands-on approach.

Experience:

  • Open to candidates starting their management career.
  • Experience in challenging environments (e.g., busy restaurants, hotels).
  • Ideally, experience in a 24-hour business setting.
  • Additional language skills (Romanian, Polish, Lithuanian) are a plus but not required.

Shift Pattern:

  • Example shifts include:
    • 5am - 3pm
    • 7am - 3:30pm
    • 2pm - 10pm
  • No night shifts; night shifts are covered by dedicated night managers.
  • Flexible schedule, not necessarily 5 days in a row, typically including:
    • 1 early start
    • 1 late shift
    • 3 morning shifts
    • Average of 1 weekend day per week.

Salary & Benefits:

  • £35,000 per annum (flexible based on experience)
  • Opportunity for performance-based bonuses after 6 to 12 months.
