Quantum Scholars is excited to work with an secondary school in Reading, which is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join their team from September 2025. Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Deliver engaging and interactive science lessons to students across Key Stage 3 (ages 11-14) and Key Stage 4 (ages 14-16), with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 (ages 16-18) depending on experience.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the science curriculum, ensuring it is stimulating, up-to-date, and aligns with the latest educational standards.
- Assessment & Reporting: Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments. Provide detailed feedback to students and parents, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive, supportive, and disciplined classroom environment, fostering student engagement, respect, and a love for science.
- Extracurricular Activities: Actively engage in extracurricular activities, such as science clubs, revision sessions, or school science events, to enrich the student experience.
- Professional Development: Participate in school training, attend staff meetings, and contribute to whole-school initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A degree in a scientific discipline (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology preferred).
- Passion for science education and a strong desire to inspire students to achieve their best.
- Strong subject knowledge across the core sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Classroom management skills with a proven ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Experience in teaching (preferably at secondary school level) is desirable but not essential-newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and a collaborative approach to tea.
