I am currently working with a client who work on Heat Pumps and Air Conditioning Systems who are looking for Service Manager for their Reading Branch.

Position: Service Manager

Core Purpose: Lead the service office, managing service turnover, maintenance portfolio, service engineers, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of service engineers and support staff.
  • Address team welfare, resolve problems, and provide training.
  • Manage resource gaps and ensure high standards of work.
  • Conduct yearly appraisals, supporting career development.
  • Approve holiday and sickness requests, liaising with HR.

Client Requests:

  • Handle client requests, new inquiries, RFIs, quotations, and complaints.
  • Provide quotations for repairs and resolve client issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients.

Revenue & Maintenance Contracts:

  • Achieve revenue budget and maintain a 25% margin.
  • Grow the maintenance contract base by 10% annually.
  • Ensure timely and accurate renewal of maintenance contracts.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety protocols.
  • Promote documented risk assessments and report accidents.
  • Ensure engineers have the necessary equipment and tools.

Housekeeping & Fleet Management:

  • Maintain good housekeeping in the office, workshop, and warehouse.
  • Oversee depot engineer fleet vehicles and report any incidents.
  • Conduct regular checks and meetings to ensure standards are met.

Meetings & Training:

  • Run toolbox talk meetings with service engineers.
  • Arrange and authorize training courses for engineers.
  • Attend quarterly service management meetings.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform all other tasks within the scope of the role.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry.
  • Technical knowledge of air conditioning and chiller systems.
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Commercial awareness and contract tendering experience.
  • IT proficiency.
