Our client is involved in the design and build of a major facility near Reading, focusing on Programme Management, Construction, Building Services (M&E), Instrumentation and Control Systems, and various external works. This is a full-time, site-based role where candidates will be required to obtain Security Clearance. Therefore, applicants must hold a British passport and have resided in the UK for the last five years.


As a Senior Engineer, you will be a key member of the Project Management Area Teams, playing a critical role in achieving bulk construction completion and ensuring a smooth handover to the operator. You will oversee all non-Mechanical and Electrical supply aspects of the scope, including reinforced concrete (RC), doors, and Process Plant and Equipment.

Key Responsibilities
Sub-Contractor Coordination: Lead and manage sub-contractor activities, including regular coordination meetings.
Project Documentation: Ensure the completion of project documentation for handover and takeover.
Technical Queries: Review drawings and technical documents, raising queries to Solution Managers for clarification.
Risk Management: Maintain the Site Risk Register in collaboration with the Agent.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policy, and best practices throughout the construction and commissioning process.
Training and Education: Oversee education and training on hazard recognition and necessary control measures.
Site Management: Manage site rules, emergency procedures, inductions, and toolbox talks, ensuring site supervisors and subcontractors are adequately trained and resourced.
Permit and Hazard Management: Obtain and issue all necessary permits and ensure accurate hazard signage during construction.
Programming and Planning: Develop detailed site activity programs in conjunction with subcontractors and the project team.
Meeting Coordination: Lead H&S meetings, site progress meetings, and support the coordination of site activities.
Plant Maintenance and Handover: Ensure the maintenance of installed plant prior to handover and that call-out procedures are followed.
Non-Conformance Reporting: Issue Non-Conformance Reports as required.
Work Pack Management: Ensure all required Work Packs are in place before site activities commence and support adherence to the overall programme.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders including clients, designers, engineers, and commercial teams to close out constraints and blockers.
Progress Monitoring: Monitor, report on, and support the timely completion of works, ensuring compliance with Work Pack Documentation for a right-first-time outcome.
Continuous Improvement: Promote excellence, continuous improvement, and the adoption of best practices, standard processes, and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:

Must hold a CSCS card.
SMSTS or equivalent is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of engineering processes, project management, and site coordination.
Experience in managing complex construction projects with a focus on safety and compliance.

Desirable:

Security Clearance or above is preferred.
Previous experience in Defence or high-assurance-level projects.
Lifting AP (Appointed Person) qualification is beneficial.
TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator) qualification is beneficial.
