Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Children's Single Point of Access (MASH) Location: Reading Team: Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Are you a skilled and experienced MASH Social Worker looking for an exciting new challenge? We are seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our dynamic Children's Single Point of Access (CSPOA) MASH team in Reading. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding children and young people, working collaboratively to provide timely and effective support for families in need. If successful you will work alongside a group of 5 other social workers, 3 Early Help Practitioners, 3 Assistant Team Managers and a Team Manager. Key Responsibilities: Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with a team of social workers, Early Help Practitioners, Assistant Team Managers, and a Team Manager to assess and support the needs of children, families, and professionals. Safeguarding Triage: Partner with external agencies and representatives to triage safeguarding concerns, ensuring children and families receive appropriate protection and support in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures. Independent Decision-Making: Confidently manage caseloads and make independent, well-informed decisions, while seeking support from colleagues and management when needed. High-Pressure Environment: Thrive in a fast-paced setting, managing multiple contacts and delivering high standards of screening and progression within tight timescales. Whole Family Approach: Promote a whole family approach, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children while also supporting early intervention to prevent statutory social work involvement wherever possible. Information Gathering: Conduct swift and thorough enquiries, adhering to consent models and information-sharing protocols, to assess the needs of children and young people. Analytical Expertise: Apply sound analytical skills to evaluate available information and make balanced, evidence-based recommendations-even when information is limited. Child-Centered Focus: Keep the needs and outcomes of the child at the heart of your work, especially when liaising with adults who know the child. Crisis Response: Respond sensitively to unplanned office visits from the public, offering support and guidance to individuals in crisis. Case Management: Maintain high-quality case records and fulfil all statutory duties and departmental procedures in line with national and directorate requirements. About You: Experienced Social Worker: You are an experienced professional with a proven track record in safeguarding and childrens services. Strong Communication Skills: You excel in building partnerships, challenging respectfully, and working collaboratively with partners and professionals. Adaptable & Resilient: You are comfortable working under pressure, with excellent time-management skills and the ability to handle a demanding workload.
