ENGINEERING MANAGER (AI & SOFTWARE)

Our client is a start-up, revolutionising the production of sterile male insects through robotics and artificial intelligence. They are seeking an Engineering Manager with a focus on AI and Software to join their growing team in Reading. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of automated production systems.

What you'll do:

As an Engineering Manager specialising in AI & Software, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's automated production systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading a dedicated software engineering team, mentoring junior members, and taking full ownership of all software aspects. You will also develop AI models for capsule processing within the system and manage field delivery operations apps and tools. Your ability to deliver operational solutions swiftly under start-up time pressures will be crucial for success.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Engineering Manager role brings a wealth of experience in software engineering leadership along with a strong academic background in computer science or a related engineering discipline. Your proficiency in Python/C++, Tensorflow and Computer Vision will be essential for success. Your hands-on experience in designing and implementing control mechanisms for automation coupled with your solution-oriented mindset will enable you to excel in this role. Experience with low power automated systems design and embedded microcontrollers/IDEs would be highly desirable.

  • Strong Experience with Python/C++, PyTorch, Computer Vision and Ideally JavaScript & HTML
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing control mechanisms for automation
