Salary: 11.72ph - 12.53ph (actual annual salary = 20,941 - 22,388 per year) Dependant on experience and qualifications
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only
Start date: Fabruary 2025
The SEN School:
This SEN School is based in Reading, Berkshire and recently opened in November 2024. The school supports young people aged 6 -16 with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, moderate to Severe Learning needs and associated difficulties, who require an individualised, specialist approach.
Opportunity:
The school are currently looking to recruit teaching Assistants (TA's) to join their expanding team and work alongside the Education Team to aid the smooth running of the school.

Job Summary
The purpose of the Teaching Assistant is to support pupils with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. Where necessary this may include supporting with positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child.
- To support teachers in all areas of the day to day running of the class seeking guidance and advice when required
- Working alongside a class team to deliver purposeful and meaningful educational experiences for children and young people with a diagnosis of Autism spectrum and severe/moderate learning difficulties.
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students according to the school's policies, including safeguarding.
Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the SEN School when required.

Qualifications
- A good standard of standard of English, Maths and communication
Knowledge and Experience - desirable
- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN relevant to Provision
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviour that challenges.
- Experience working within education is advantageous
- Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
Skills
- Commitment to the role, the desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual
- Be positive and creative in meeting students' needs
- Work on your own as well as part of a team
- Work collaboratively with other staff and professionals with good interpersonal skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Competent ICT skills

- Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role
