JR260: Machine OperativeLocation: ReadingSalary: £12 per hour + ProgressionOverview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Machine Operative on behalf of one of our clients.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and set up shear and punch presses efficiently.
  • Ensure all manufactured parts meet company quality standards and product specifications.
  • Maintain optimal press uptime and minimize scrap.
  • Follow company procedures regarding product checking and quality control.
  • Run machines to achieve cycle times as specified on route cards.
  • Assist the Setter/Team Leader in improving machine efficiencies, changeover times, and tooling setups.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce safety risks.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with machine maintenance as required.
  • Support the transportation of goods, stock checks, and general housekeeping within the manufacturing unit.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good engineering or mechanical background.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience using measuring tools such as Verniers and micrometers.
  • Self-motivated, able to multitask, and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to share technical information.
  • Counterbalance forklift truck license.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Basic PC skills.

Location: ReadingSalary: £12 per hour + Progression
