Applications and Design Engineer

Reading or Bristol

up to £60,000 on the basic - depending on experience

Exciting opportunity to be responsible for handling client enquiries and selections, both directly and via the project and field sales team.

Description

  • Reviewing client specifications to glean necessary detail for completion of design and selections
  • Conduct site surveys to gather necessary information to make recommendations costing and submission
  • Complete detailed specific system design proposals including drawings
  • Undertaking selections of relevant Chiller and HP equipment
  • Engaging with suppliers and utilising their tools and technical documents
  • Collating offers for clients and the external sales team based on the mentioned designs and unit selections
  • Administering our job book and filing system as require
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of Cool-therm's product portfolio
  • Fielding client technical enquiries
  • Undertaking commercial discussions with clients
  • All other duties within the capability of the job holder

Key Skills Experience

  • Background in HVAC (5 years plus in related role and field)
  • Higher education in Engineering, B.Eng, BSc, HNC/ HND Building Services or similar desirable
  • Hydronic system design experience required
  • Competence with CAD package desirable
  • HP or Chiller application experience preferred also
  • Installation/ commissioning experience beneficial
  • Other relevant technical experience considered
  • Experience in heating and cooling system design, comfortable looking at all types of systems but with a focus on hydronics
  • Background in engineering with qualifications to Degree level, or relevant working experience in Heat Pump and/ or Chiller applications, although other HVAC applications may be considered.
  • Understanding of specifications, completing selections for heat pumps, chillers, pumps, tanks, pipework and associated componentry.
  • Ability to create quotations based on those specifications, speaking directly with clients, including commercial discussions on occasion.
