Quantity Surveyor Rail Asset Maintenance (Minor Works)

Overview
This role operates within a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on rail maintenance and asset management within a major framework. This business unit specializes in small-scale maintenance projects, both reactive and planned, that support the rail networks integrity. Projects vary in scope and value, including but not limited to repairs and maintenance for bridges, tunnels, structures, stations, embankments, flood and weather damage, signage, de-vegetation, fencing, and handrails.
Role Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will take on commercial responsibilities for various Design, Culverts, and Building/Civils Asset Management projects within the Asset Management framework. Projects typically range from £5,000 to £2 million in value.
Key Responsibilities
Present applications for payment in a timely manner to ensure adherence to contractual entitlements.
Ensure payments are received in accordance with contract terms.
Submit estimates and tendering information to clients quickly.
Finalize all aspects of Final Accounts.
Provide weekly cost/value information, delivery schedules, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) data.
Prepare and present Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and Final Cost/Value Forecasts.
Develop forward work schedules and cash flows.
Manage procurement, negotiation, and placement of Sub-contract Orders.
Oversee the financial management of Sub-contractors until Final Accounts are settled.
Ensure compliance with contractual letters, notices, and requirements.
Prepare documentation for additional payments, variations, and claims.
Offer commercial support to site and contracts management teams.
Collaborate with Estimating and Procurement teams.
Provide guidance and oversight to Trainee/Apprentice Quantity Surveyors.
Liaise closely with the client on all commercial matters, including the preparation and submission of supporting information.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a civil engineering and maintenance framework/contract environment.
Rail experience is beneficial but not essential.
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (BSc/HNC/HND).
Familiarity with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract.
Strong background in civils contracting and maintenance frameworks (rail, highways, utilities, general civils maintenance/minor works).
