Job Title: Surfacing Contracts Manager
Location: Redditch
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Surfacing Contracts Manager to oversee and manage a variety of surfacing contracts including carparks, highways, cycleways, domestic driveways, 278 works etc throughout the West Midlands and Worcestershire areas.
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of asphalt surfacing contracts, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires effective communication and coordination with clients, subcontractors, and the site team.
Key Responsibilities:
Contracts Management
- Manage asphalt surfacing contracts from inception to completion, ensuring that projects adhere to timelines, budgets, and quality standards while promoting continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and plan materials, labour, and plant resources to optimize the use of resources and meet project deadlines.
- Proactively plan works to balance production, removing peaks and troughs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and control project costs, preparing and managing project budgets to ensure financial targets are met.
- Maximize financial returns on all aspects of the contract, minimizing risk, and protecting commercial interests.
- Ensure all projects comply with health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and maintaining a zero-harm culture.
- Lead and inspire high standards of health and safety, environmental, and quality performance.
- Write health and safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments, ensuring sites have the appropriate documentation in place.
- Manage and mentor operational employees, fostering continuous skill development and understanding training needs.
- Conduct site inspections and audits in line with company requirements, ensuring compliance and maintaining high standards across projects.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role within the infrastructure, highways maintenance sectors.
You should have:
- Experience in asphalting and surfacing within the highways/commercial sectors
- A valid CSCS card.
- A proven track record in managing contracts within the surfacing industry or related fields.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
- A proactive approach to promoting health and safety standards.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly with prime contracts.
- A solid understanding of commercial matters, with a focus on controlling costs and optimizing value.
- Exceptional people management skills, with the ability to lead, mentor, and influence teams effectively.
