Job Title: Toolroom Engineer
Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Contract Details: Temp To Perm, Full Time, 39 hours per week Monday to Friday
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 1pm
Daily Breaks: 10:30am to 10:40am (paid), 1pm to 1:30pm (unpaid) & 3pm to 3:10pm (paid)
Salary: Up to 16.00 per hour (weekly pay) equivalent to 32,448 per annum

Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, repair, and maintain all tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and fittings
- Recommend improvements to current tooling to facilitate SMED techniques
- Initiate and implement tooling improvements to optimise production processes
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase output and efficiencies
- Conduct routine servicing and regrinding of press tools following last-off procedure
- Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and solve problems with minimal downtime
- Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in the press or requires essential maintenance and repair work in the tool room
- Estimate the time required for each job and anticipate the consequences of failing to meet deadlines
- Identify and escalate any potential safety issues or concerns
- Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management
- Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard
Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Apprenticeship trained
- Experience of working to tight production timescales
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous tool making experience
- Knowledge of SMED techniques
- Proficient in measurement techniques
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and able to work under pressure
- Diligent with a strong focus on health and safety
Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
- Additional qualifications or certifications in relevant areas
Technologies:
- Proficient in the use of various tool room machinery and tools
