Our Client is a market leading innovative Distributor & Manufacturer of speciality ingredients and flavours for the food, nutrition, supplement and medical nutrition markets in the UK.

They are now seeking an Innovation Manager (NPD Manager) - Food Ingredients. This position will be laboratory based in Redditch, Worcestershire and is a full-time permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

  • To drive and proactively engage with the Innovation Services team, Operating Division, Suppliers and Customers to submit and develop ideas for business growth and follow innovation best practices
  • To be at the forefront of and drive marketing, application and formulation innovation
  • To ensure scale up through pilot to commercial volumes
  • To support the introduction of innovations in the market
  • Own, improve and follow the Innovation Process
  • Carry out NPD activities
  • Present findings to the customer

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc in Food Technology (or equivalent)
  • Experience of commercial NPD to make recipes and formulations
  • Understanding of flavour technologies
  • Sensory Analysis Certification
  • Interested in formulation of plant proteins
  • Able to create products in the bakery, dairy, beverage, sweet, savoury sectors
  • Understanding of regulatory aspects of food including labelling
  • Food manufacturing experience / technical knowledge of food manufacturing settings
  • Holds an advanced understanding of the market and customer needs.
  • Has a practical understanding of the most recent technical methods, formulations / syntheses and analytical techniques.
  • Holds a track record of engaging with customers to develop workable project briefs and converting to successful commercial volumes.
  • Has the ability to move an NPD project to scale for all areas of market application.
  • Has a tangible track record of commercial success for complex NPD projects.
  • Has management experience of scientifically trained employees.
  • Ability to present a compelling case to leadership and stakeholders within the company, at customers and suppliers.
  • Analytical. Numerate. Literate. Creative. Innovative.

In return, our Client is offering a basic salary of up to £50,000 per annum, (salary is negotiable and dependent on experience), plus benefits.
