Technical Support Engineer - £41,500- £43,000– Redditch, Worcestershire with occasional travel throughout the UK and Abroad.

The Role

Do you possess a proven track record in technical support or service roles? Are you experienced in maintaining and repairing complex equipment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are a Global leader in the Design and Manufacture of windscreen wiping and wash systems, looking to appoint an experienced Service and Support Engineer to our growing team.

You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of our advanced equipment and systems. You will ensure our clients receive excellent service, enabling smooth operation and performance.

Working hours are Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm and Fridays 7:30am – 1:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Commissioning:

  • Install and configure equipment at client sites.
  • Ensure systems are fully operational before handover.
  • Carry out ship visits in the UK and Abroad to commission customer installed window wiper equipment.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform regular maintenance checks and troubleshoot issues.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment failures promptly.
  • To carry out onboard fault diagnostics of both wipers and their associated control systems.

Customer Support:

  • Provide on-site and remote support to clients.
  • Train clients on equipment use and maintenance.
  • To assist the customer where required with installations.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of service activities and client interactions.
  • Prepare reports on equipment status and service history.

Collaboration:

  • Work with the engineering team to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Provide feedback on product issues and potential enhancements.
  • To Liaise with our agents and end users on customer service related matters.
  • To work with the production departments to maintain the highest customer service levels when not required to travel.

The Person

  • [2-5 years] of experience in a service or technical support role.
  • You will need be familiar with the requirements of marine electrical requirements and ideally a working knowledge of electronics.
  • Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • IT literate and the use of Word, Excell.
  • As many installations on ships are at high locations, wearing a safety harness, you will need a good head for heights
  • Have a driving license and own car for travel in UK.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
  • You will be expected to work un-supervised as most site visits will be unaccompanied.
