GSL Education are offering an excellent opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist provision in Redditch. This role is ideal for a graduate looking to make a positive impact in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Through restorative practices, you will help build empathy and offer comfort while supporting the students in their personal development.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in their learning and social development.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students from the start.
  • Use restorative practices to help manage behaviour and resolve conflicts.
  • Work closely with teachers and staff to create a safe, supportive environment.
  • Encourage students to reach their full potential both academically and socially.

Requirements of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Recent graduate with an interest in Criminal Justice or Restorative Practices.
  • A passion for working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathetic, patient, and committed to making a difference.
  • Ability to work in a team and build relationships with students and staff.
  • Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one.
