GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Youth Workers to join an SEN Secondary School in Redditch. As a Youth Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support, guidance, and encouragement to students with diverse learning needs.
Ideal applicants should have knowledge of additional needs and linked behaviours, such as Autism, Learning Difficulties, ADHD and GDD. Being able to communicate well with school leaders, parents and carers is essential.
Youth Worker Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Youth Worker or in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and experience working with students with diverse learning needs such as Autism, ADHD and SEMH.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support the well-being and development of young people
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting students with SEN, such as Team Teach, MAPPA or NAPPI.
- Level 2 Team Teach Training can be provided throughout the summer holidays.
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, social work, education, or a related field.
- Have an Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Youth Worker Responsibilities:
- Assisting students in on a 1:1 and small group basis, delivering pre-planned interventions.
- Planning and facilitating group activities and workshops that promote social skills, emotional well-being, and independence.
- Working in partnership with the SENCO to work towards achieving EHCP outcomes.
- Offering emotional support and guidance to students experiencing difficulties or distress.
- Maintaining regular communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress, and involving them in decision-making processes.
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and develop individualised support plans.
