Senior Credit Controller

  • Salary: £31,000- £33,000
  • Working pattern: Hybrid working- 2/3 days from the office

We are seeking a Senior Credit Controller to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for ensuring our service operates successfully for our customers and meets business objectives. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with a strong background in debt management and a passion for service excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Communicate effectively via telephone, email, and letter to ensure prompt payments.
  • Advocate and communicate business changes effectively.
  • Support and motivate the debt team to resolve enquiries efficiently and provide excellent service.
  • Investigate and correct issues related to billing, payments, refunds, and interactions with market and wholesalers.
  • Maintain regular contact with brokers, their customers, and direct accounts to provide market-leading service.
  • Take ownership of team performance, driving actions to maintain, streamline, and improve services.
  • Identify trends in performance and manage these through appropriate channels.
  • Ensure key department processes are regularly analysed and reported to identify any gaps or failures.
  • Manage customer portfolios to minimize aged/bad debt and recommend appropriate actions for uncollectable debts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Mathematics and English Language), higher education preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in operational best practices related to debt management.
  • Strong knowledge of legal processes associated with debt management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload efficiently.
  • Experience in a utility customer service centre or similar environment is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
