Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Redhill
Position: Full-time
Hours: 8.45 am - 4.30 pm
Pay: £14-£15 per hour
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive college located in Redhill, Surrey. We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting students with a range of SEND and who can contribute to a positive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the guidance of the classroom teacher to support SEND students in achieving their individual educational and developmental goals
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and provide tailored support to students with a variety of learning needs, such as ASC, ADHD, dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties
- Encourage and assist students during classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated
- Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary
- Promote positive behaviour and social skills, implementing strategies to support students in managing their own behaviour
- Prepare and organise resources and materials to assist in delivering effective learning activities.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or within a special education setting is preferred
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual who is comfortable working with children/young adults who have a range of learning difficulties and behavioural challenges
- Good understanding of the curriculum and various educational strategies to support children/young adults with SEND
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals
- Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
- Enhanced DBS check on update service or willingness to undertake one
