We are looking for Utilities Support Driver to join our Repair and Maintenance team. Reporting to the Section Manager, youll be responsible for providing the R&M teams with signage, lighting and guarding (SLG) and fittings whilst making scheduled and unscheduled drop offs across our supply network.


This role is field based, covering parts of Surrey, Kent and South Croydon - from Morden and South Croydon in the north to Gatwick Airport in the south, Cobham, Leatherhead and Dorking in the west to Edenbridge in the east.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist with maintaining the highest standards of customer, health, safety, environmental and quality standards on site, and to ensure that the road user and other interested parties are always given full consideration and respect.
  • Provide a proactive and responsive service to the R&M teams by delivering the necessary requirements and supporting in any other site-based needs
  • Assist in pre-planning jobs, such as preparing sites and delivering notices to affected customers
  • Ensure sites are left cleared and safe at the end of a job
  • Maintain the store of SLG, ensuring they are safe, the stock levels are right and reporting any missing equipment/low stock to the Section Manager
  • Assist with daily routine checks and maintenance of the delivery vehicles
  • Assisting with tidying the Redhill yard


If you are an experienced back up driver (preferably with an HGV licence) it wont be a surprise to learn that youll need to be physically fit and will be working outside in all weathers.


We provide the protective clothing and need you to bring a willingness to learn, a flexible attitude to work (there is a 1 in 4 standby shift pattern) and a proactive and communicative approach.


Ideally, wed like you to have:


  • HGV driving licence
  • 360 excavator or 180 JCB qualification
  • StreetWorks qualification
  • HIAB and Clamshell tickets
  • Experience of reinstatement of excavation in the highway


But we recognise that we cant always have everything we want, so dont be put off applying if you dont have all of these. We can help with training where necessary. Skills are important, but your attitude to work and learning is the driver here.
