We are excited to offer an opportunity for an inspirational and enthusiastic Science Lecturer to join our Professional and Services Industries department at a leading college. This role involves delivering high-quality teaching and learning across Levels 2-3 BTEC Applied Science courses. As a Science Lecturer, you will plan and guide learning programmes, assess students, and contribute to their overall success and development.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to BTEC Applied Science courses.
  • Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to promote learning and achievement.
  • Act as a personal tutor, offering pastoral care and promoting attendance.
  • Support students in securing suitable work placements.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the planning, development, and review activities within the Science department.
  • Work closely with the Director of Learning and other team members to drive continuous improvement within the college.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A teaching qualification (ideally level 5 or above, such as PGCE, DET/DTLLS, or Cert ED).
  • Relevant FE teaching and assessing experience across BTEC levels 2 - 4.
  • A Science-based degree (ideally Chemistry).
  • Experience in tutoring and pastoral care for 16-19-year-olds in the FE sector.
  • BTEC internal verification experience.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Maths & English GCSE / Level 2 equivalent.
  • Desirable: Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
  • Desirable: Certificate/Award in Internal Quality Assurance (willingness to update old qualifications such as A1 or V1 to new standards).
