Our client is seeking a Systems Technician to join our Service Management Team. Reporting to the Head of Technology & Networks, this role is crucial for providing expert technical support for IT equipment across our client’s customer systems, our internal corporate, and global remote sites. The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering a quality 24/7 service to our client’s MSP/MSSP customers on a variety of hardware and software products.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist with the administration of nominated customer IT equipment and networks, including monitoring systems/services, generating/reviewing reports, and ensuring SW/Firmware is maintained and up to date.
  • Ensure smooth running and patching of the desktop environment, monitoring usage/performance, and maintaining tight controls on hardware/software obsolescence.
  • Support the Systems Management team in building and maintaining IT hosting infrastructure, including storage, virtual environments, email, and backups.
  • Maintain user assets inventory, update changes when kit is moved/deployed within the company and perform regular auditing of the asset register.
  • Be part of the 24/7 on-call rota, responding to calls as required.
  • Continuously evaluate existing processes/procedures ensuring Desktop Support is carried out in the most efficient and effective manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • HND/Degree or equivalent in Computing or related discipline, or at least 2 years of experience in a demanding environment within a busy 100+ user network including remote sites/users.
  • Broad range of technical skills in diverse IT hardware and business applications.
  • Sound technical knowledge of core Microsoft Windows 10/11 desktop environments, Windows Server 2019/2022 administration, and IT Security (anti-virus, hard drive encryption, authentication).
  • Previous experience in 1st/2nd line support roles and working in an MSP environment.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Endpoint Central, Veeam, PRTG, Virtual Environments (VMware), and experience with Mitel phone systems.
