Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Cubic tender responses as and when required by sourcing new suppliers where appropriate, obtaining quotations based on tender specifications and providing input to procurement issues raised by the tender documentation.
  • Participate in Project/ Programme kick-off meetings, general reviews/gateways, pricing reviews and other critical meetings and presentations as required.
  • Respond to complex and diverse enquiries which may require innovative solutions.
  • Participate in cost and pricing reviews with project and program management.
  • Act as negotiator in all supplier actions assigned.
  • Develop and implement specific procurement strategies for each project, contract or bid.
  • Develop and construct a range of supplier contract and service level agreements.
  • Prepare and issue Purchase Orders, ensuring that they are commercially complete and accurate and that expenditure is pre-approved to Company Procedures.
  • Ensure that Company Procedures are adhered to in relation to supplier selection and approval.
  • Procure materials, equipment, spare parts and services at the most cost effective price commensurate with technical, safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure that terms and conditions of purchase provide delivery in accordance with the Companys contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and issue invitations to tender on a competitive basis, receive quotations, analyse and recommend the best commercial option.
  • Ability to negotiate best cost/price for the company.
  • Ensure that the enquiry/tender process is conducted to conclusion and that auditable records are maintained.
  • Ensure that any bidding process is conducted ethically and with the highest integrity.
  • Liaise with internal departments to provide input on product design and availability.
  • Provide input to network and critical path planning.
  • Maintain high visibility of procurement process to internal customers and maintain up to date delivery status reports on a project basis.
  • Maintain performance monitoring of Suppliers in accordance with Company Procedures and to take any appropriate action to maintain/improve performance.
  • Reduce/minimise the supplier base without risk to security of supply.
  • Manage the suppliers and subcontractors performance, which will include conducting subcontractor audits to ensure compliance with contract terms and defined standards / policies
  • Work closely with the Contracts Department to ensure flowdown of key prime contract terms
  • Proactively contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage bulk supply agreements and partnerships.
  • In addition the jobholder may be required to perform supervisory activities as required.
  • Comply with Cubics values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In particular comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Essential:

  • Established experience in a Purchasing department at Buyer level.
  • Strong negotiation Skills. Demonstrable successful track record in negotiation.
  • Demonstrate competency in using MS Office software packages.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined project team.
  • Solid legal understanding.
  • Ability to develop strategic supplier relationships.
  • Proven experience of cost reduction and ability to monitor and analyse product cost.
  • Degree or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Demonstrate interaction with Senior Management on a regular basis for reporting purposes.
  • Degree in a Business or Technical related subject
  • Part qualified MCIPS
