Our client is seeking a dedicated IT Systems Engineer to join our Systems Management Team. Reporting to the Head of Technology & Networks, this role involves expert management of our customer servers and systems, providing top-notch technical support for IT equipment across our client’s customer environments, our internal corporate, and global remote sites.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist with the administration of nominated customer IT equipment and networks, including implementation of patches, firmware updates, and ensuring backups are completed.
- Monitor the performance of customer environments, ensuring efficient operation and tight controls on hardware/software obsolescence.
- Build and maintain IT hosting infrastructure as required, including storage, virtual environments, email, and backups.
- Create standardized build images and configure hardware such as laptops, PCs, servers, NAS, SANs, IP phones, and mobile devices in accordance with IT security policies.
- Be an active part of the 24/7 on-call rota, responding to emergencies as required.
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures in desktop support, ensuring they are carried out in the most efficient and effective manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Engineering related area, or at least 3 years of equivalent experience.
- Experience in an MSP environment with a professional and flexible approach.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently on your own projects.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2019/22 and Microsoft Windows 10/11 desktop environments.
- Proficiency in IT Security (anti-virus, firewalls), VMware, and TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, and Firewalling.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Endpoint Central, Veeam, PRTG, and project planning and delivery experience.
