We are recruiting for an Sales Engineer OR a Sales person with a Scientific background.

The opportunity requires an individual who is experienced in supporting / developing / building distributor networks, you will be working for an OEM within a scientific instrumentation environment or within complex engineered solutions.

The position is Office Based, when not meeting customers/Distributors or attending trade shows and marketing events.

Must be confident in front of scientists and engineers and able to deal with technical enquiries and questions. FULL product traing will be provided.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Handling sales enquiries from emails and phone calls
  • Generating a detailed technical response and/or formal quotation where required
  • Developing and managing the business with assigned distributors/customers
  • Identifying specific business needs and providing product sales training for distributors
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key customers / distributors
  • Creating/identifying new sales opportunities and developing them into sales
  • Selecting and appointing new distributors for the required markets
  • Meeting sales targets set by the Sales Manager and identify opportunities for future growth
  • Collaborating with all available company resources to fulfil the customer requirements
  • Monitoring the progress of live enquiries and maintain contact with customers to progress enquiries to firm orders
  • Maintaining the CRM system and frequently update records of enquiries and the sales pipeline
  • Providing the Sales Manager with reports on the status of all enquiries on the system, including recommended actions for individual enquiries
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the industry and the products
  • Attending shows, exhibitions and customer sites as required by the strategic marketing plan

Knowledge, skills and experience:

Experience in selling scientific laboratory products

Experience in distributor management would be advantageous but not essential

Experience of using CRM system

A background / knowledge of microscopy, spectroscopy, or other Analytical / Materials techniques would be advantageous

Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills

Well organised, self-disciplined and result oriented
