Part-Time Water Quality Sampler

£12,500 per annum

We are recruiting for a part-time water quality sampler to join our team on a permanent basis. We are proud to supply safe, potable drinking water to over 745,000 customers each day. This role is essential in ensuring continuous quality assurance, identifying any contamination and resolving water quality issues.

You will be working a total of 18 hours, 6 hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Reporting to the Laboratory Systems and Sampling Co-Ordinator you will be responsible for taking water samples within our supply area, delivering these to the company laboratory and carrying out on-site tests.

Your role will include:

  • Taking water samples and carrying out on-site tests from reservoir sites, treatments works, boreholes, river monitoring points and customer houses as required.
  • Recording accurate results of all on-site tests
  • Carrying out site sampling and investigations to investigate water quality complaints
  • Loading samples onto vehicle (full crates may weigh up to 20kg)
  • Working across our supply area, outside in all weathers
  • Courier small items between sites

You’ll be working as part of a team of experts who will be available to provide any technical guidance, however you will be responsible for planning your day to ensure that you complete your allocated tasks.

About You:

You’ll be working at sites across our supply area, driving for a significant part of the day. You must enjoy a varied role as you will spend time in the laboratory, at our sites and in customers’ homes. You must have previous experience of dealing with customers face-to-face and the ability to build rapport with internal colleagues and the general public.

You’ll receive training relevant to the role (Manual Handling and National Water Hygiene Card training) but should be prepared to learn and develop your knowledge of processes and systems.

Essential requirements to be considered for this role:

  • Full driving license
  • Ability to work within set procedures
  • Previous experience of dealing with customers face to face

It would be ideal if you have previous experience using measuring equipment and recording measurements and data, as would a basic knowledge of plumbing systems.
