Job Purpose:
The Strategic Projects Officer role is to lead and manage a portfolio of strategic projects as identified as priority by the Council. Responsible for developing project concepts and plans, coordinating resources, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects that align with the Councils strategic goals. Successful project management focuses on the ability to link each project to Redruth Town Councils organisational objectives. Working with the Town Clerk as part of the Senior Management Team, the postholder will lead the development of a suite of projects from inception to successful execution.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Effectively and efficiently manage the various strands of activity related to the set up and establishment of new projects, including market research and stakeholder expectations.
- Responsibility for driving the project(s) forward and ensuring timelines and milestones are hit
- Work innovatively with the Town Clerk and Senior Management team to create solutions and design projects based on a deep understanding of Community needs and Town Council strategy
- Undertake benchmarking visits as appropriate to learn from best practice in other localities.
- Form highly effective working relationships with key partners, businesses and stakeholders, raising awareness of the projects and helping to promote them. This includes being the key focal point for all project enquiries.
- Work closely with the Asset Manager to ensure that external contractors are project managed as appropriate.
- Management of expenditure, budgets and financial reporting as required.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators to monitor and measure project success
- Risk assess each project and develop detailed work plans to mitigate project slippage at every stage of the project(s).
- Ensure projects meet legal and regulatory requirements and comply with the Council’s financial and governance framework.
- Work closely with the Communications Manager to ensure that projects receive requisite positive publicity and appropriate design of promotional campaigns, growing our ability to tell stories effectively about the project outputs and outcome.
- Facilitate Focus Groups and project working parties.
- Regularly present to the Town Council on project progress and new initiatives.
- Build and sustain strong and effective relationships with internal and external customer segments.
- Compile compelling funding applications to ensure projects can become live and reach their full potential.
- Work towards accreditation and/or award opportunities to showcase and position the project to wider audiences.
- Work closely with the Business Liaison Manager and Responsible Finance Officer to ensure that projects attract additional investment as required
- Evaluate Project success
- Line manage the Community Liaison Manager to ensure that community development and capacity building is at the heart of each project.
- Act in a polite, professional, and capable manner at all times, as would be expected of an employee of the Town Council.
- Work with the Town Clerk as a member of the Senior Management team on the strategic direction of the Town Council
- To undertake any other duties required by the Council consistent with the level and scope of the post.
- Any other task as directed by the Town Clerk.
