Our client, a highly established and financially secure engineering company with a rich history, is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business renowned for delivering high-quality machined components. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in selling machined components, ideally within a subcontract environment, and possess a strong technical understanding of machining processes and capabilities.

The Role:

The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for managing a small team of two technically focused Sales Engineers, as well as driving business growth by leveraging their own industry knowledge and experience. The role involves both team leadership and hands-on sales activities, with a strong focus on developing and maintaining customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies to increase market share and business revenue.
  • Manage and lead a small team of two Sales Engineers, ensuring they meet sales targets and provide excellent technical advice to clients.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with new and existing customers across various sectors.
  • Use technical knowledge of machining processes and capabilities to deliver tailored solutions for customer requirements.
  • Monitor market trends and identify new opportunities for business development.
  • Regularly travel across the UK to visit customers and represent the company.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Extensive experience in selling machined components, ideally in a subcontract environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of machining processes and manufacturing capabilities.
  • A well-established network of contacts within the industry would be highly beneficial.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience managing or developing a sales team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to meet with customers nationwide.
