Job DetailsJob Title:Cover SupervisorDepartment:Maths & English (GCSE & Functional Skills) Campus:South DownsSalary:Grade 3 Spine Point 11 - £23,829.26Contract Type:Fixed-term until 17/08/2025About the RoleWe are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to support teaching and learning within the English, Maths, Science and Health Faculty. The role involves delivering lessons in the absence of a class teacher, to ensure that students continue to learn new knowledge and or have opportunities to revisit prior knowledge, so that they continue to progress through their courses.This post is ideal for those who have a passion for working with young people, and a love of learning who are looking for a new rewarding career pathway OR for someone considering a career in teaching and thinking of applying for a PGCE OR for a qualified teacher looking for a more flexible way of working or better work-life balance.Responsibilities You will be responsible for:
  • To cover lessons with the materials provided to ensure students continue to learn and progress.
  • To engage collaboratively with all Teachers/Lecturers in a culture of high expectations, high standards and mutual respect
  • To ensure outstanding success and progression of all students within the relevant Department through the delivery of inspirational teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To deliver high quality teaching, learning, assessment and support, in the absence of a lecturer.
  • To deliver formal scheduled teaching duties, tutorials (as appropriate) and student assessment.
  • To record, share and regularly monitor student progress using College information systems.
Requirements You will need:
  • Degree in relevant subject.
  • Certificate in Education/PGCE or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of personal recent teaching success shown by high student achievement in the subject area
  • At least 2 years’ experience in teaching the subject area to full-time or part-time students.
  • Ability to offer successful pastoral support to cohort teaching group.
  • Sound understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and equality and diversity in the context of education.
