We are working with a secondary school located in the heart of Redruth/Camborne. They are a large comprehensive school catering to students aged 11 to 16 and are dedicated to fostering both the academic and personal growth of its students. The are recruiting a passionate and creative Drama Teacher to join their dynamic secondary school team. This full-time position will cover maternity leave starting in January. As the Drama Teacher, you will deliver a broad and inclusive drama curriculum that engages and challenges students. Your primary goal will be to foster a supportive and inspiring environment that promotes self-expression, teamwork, and confidence. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to extra-curricular activities, performances, and drama club initiatives within the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Delivering Lessons:

    • Prepare and teach engaging, well-structured drama lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, following the national curriculum and school guidelines.
    • Develop lesson plans that cater to different learning abilities and ensure inclusivity.
    • Assess students’ progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt lessons to meet their needs.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking:

    • Monitor, assess, and report on students' academic progress, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Support students in preparing for assessments, practical performances, and other course-related evaluations.
  • Classroom Management:

    • Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment that encourages mutual respect, engagement, and discipline.
    • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering an atmosphere of creativity, responsibility, and respect among students.
  • Extra-Curricular Involvement:

    • Lead and support drama-related extra-curricular activities, including after-school drama clubs, workshops, and school productions.
    • Take an active role in planning and organizing the school’s annual performances and theatre events, fostering students’ creative expression and teamwork.
  • Collaboration with Staff:

    • Work closely with other teaching and support staff to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
    • Participate in departmental meetings, school-wide events, and contribute to curriculum planning and continuous improvement.
  • Professional Development:

    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practices and keep up-to-date with educational and industry developments in drama and the performing arts.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching drama within a secondary school environment.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create an inclusive and encouraging environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to inspiring creativity, collaboration, and confidence in students.
  • A passion for the performing arts and a willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities and school productions.
