We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a Secondary School in the Redruth area to cover a maternity leave from April 2025. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of the English language and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves teaching students of various ages and backgrounds, promoting literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.
Duties
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Teach English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Create a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Organise extracurricular activities related to English literature and language to enhance learning experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behaviour.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.
- Stay updated with the latest educational trends and methodologies in English teaching.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong organisational abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students while fostering a love for the English language.
- Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes, including digital resources and online platforms.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability in addressing diverse student needs.
- Previous experience in teaching or tutoring is advantageous but not essential.
- A relevant teaching qualification or degree in English or Education is preferred.
