A well-established, independent accountancy practice with over two decades of service is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its close-knit team. The practice serves a diverse portfolio of small to medium-sized businesses, personal tax clients, and local charities. The team consists of qualified and part-qualified professionals who collaborate in a supportive and traditional office environment located in the centre of Redhill, just a short walk from local transport links.

The successful candidate will support the practice's compliance and bookkeeping functions, preparing a variety of accounts and tax returns while contributing to the overall smooth operation of the business. Assistant Accountant Job Overview

  • Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, residents' management companies, and limited companies
  • Preparation of personal tax returns
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns; maintaining the VAT return schedule
  • Supporting ad hoc bookkeeping assignments
  • Liaising with colleagues and clients to ensure accurate and timely submissions
Assistant Accountant Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working within an accountancy practice handling small/medium sized businesses.
  • Strong practical knowledge of FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
  • Experience in both personal and corporation tax
  • Competence using IRIS (preferred), as well as Sage 50, QuickBooks, and Xero
  • Excellent communication skills with a good command of written and spoken English
  • AAT qualified or similar preferred; however, those qualified by experience will also be considered
  • Local candidates (Redhill/Reigate area) preferred due to the office-based nature of the role
Assistant Accountant Salary & Benefits
  • Competitive salary between £28,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
  • Full-time, office-based: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (1-hour lunch)
  • Holiday Package: 22 days + 8BH
