About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our team at an SEN school in Reigate. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting our students' health and wellbeing, working alongside teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care support to students, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and independence are upheld
- Assist with feeding, dressing, mobility, and other daily care tasks as required
- Monitor students’ health needs and assist with the administration of medication, in line with school policies
- Work closely with teaching and therapeutic staff to support individual learning and care plans
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students, promoting an inclusive and nurturing environment
- Maintain accurate health records, adhering to confidentiality and safeguarding policies at all times
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, following the school’s health and safety procedures
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Health Care Assistant or similar role, preferably within an SEN, education, or healthcare setting
- Basic First Aid qualification (or a willingness to complete training)
- Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification
- Experience with students who have physical disabilities, learning disabilities, or medical needs
- Knowledge of handling and mobility equipment
