Systems Engineer

About My Client:
My client is a leading player in the technology and satellite communications sector, providing innovative solutions to MoD and government customers. They are now seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join their team and contribute to the successful design, delivery, and support of key projects.

Main Purpose of the Role:
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and delivery of projects for MoD/Government customers. Working closely with the project office and wider team, you will ensure that all technical specifications are met, from testing new equipment to delivering project systems that meet customer requirements. Your ability to interpret complex project requirements and guide the team on IP structures and equipment specifications will be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and configuration of MoD/Gov projects in line with specifications.
  • Liaise with the projects office to ensure the timely delivery of assigned work.
  • Evaluate and test new equipment to ensure compliance with project needs.
  • Create and review technical documentation, drawings, and equipment lists.
  • Define IP structures and provide guidance to technical teams.
  • Visit customer sites when necessary to support project implementation.
  • Verify new software builds against testing criteria and efficiency standards.
  • Participate in customer meetings, offering technical insights and understanding of client requirements.
  • Provide support as part of the Duty MoD/Gov engineer rota.
  • Offer training for new systems and support customer trials with MoD/Gov agencies.
  • Support the development of new technical proposals and systems enhancements.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of MoD/Gov customers.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required:

  • Minimum degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) qualification required; Juniper experience highly desirable.
  • Broad experience in ICT and satellite communications is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be eligible to obtain DV Security Clearance.
