Job Title: School-Based IT Technician

Overview:We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused IT professional to provide on-site technical support across school environments. The role involves scheduled and ad-hoc visits to resolve technical issues, maintain IT systems, and support teaching staff with technology. This position is ideal for someone with strong IT troubleshooting skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the in-house IT technician for multiple schools, addressing technical issues and providing tailored advice.
  • Own and resolve issues efficiently, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of school IT infrastructure, updates, and support activities.
  • Provide first-line support and escalate server issues as needed.
  • Install and configure hardware, software, and peripherals, adhering to licensing and security standards.
  • Manage school networks, including backups, user accounts, and antivirus updates.
  • Offer guidance on web filtering, email filtering, and Firewall setups.
  • Support teaching staff in using IT equipment and ensure adherence to school policies.
  • Maintain and monitor IT assets, ensuring systems remain functional and secure.
  • Liaise with senior management and feedback opportunities for service improvements or upgrades.

Essential Skills:

  • IT troubleshooting and support experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and basic networking (LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS).
  • Familiarity with filtering, safeguarding software, and mobile devices (iOS/Android).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Servers and networking technologies (Cisco, D-Link).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Windows Server 2012-2016 administration, SQL maintenance, and VMware/Hyper-V knowledge.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki, WatchGuard, and Veeam.

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving license.
