We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Family Liaison Officer to lead our new one-to-one support service for SEN parents. This remote role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of families navigating the SEN journey.Day-to-day of the role:One-to-One Support:
- Manage a personal diary to schedule and conduct one-to-one calls with SEN parents and carers.
- Provide empathetic listening, practical advice, and signposting to relevant resources and services.
Community Engagement:
- Build trusting relationships with SEN parents and carers, fostering a supportive environment.
- Act as a bridge between families and the SEN community, encouraging them to engage and connect.
Resource Sharing:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEN resources, charities, and services to provide accurate information and referrals.
- Help families navigate available support options, including free online communities.
Advocacy and Awareness:
- Champion for SEN families, raising awareness of their challenges and needs within the community.
- Offer insights to improve SEN services and initiatives.
Administration:
- Keep detailed and confidential records of interactions while respecting GDPR and safeguarding protocols.
- Provide regular updates to the team on the service’s impact and areas for improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Personal or professional experience supporting children with SEN and their families.
- Outstanding listening and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
- Strong knowledge of the challenges faced by SEN families and the resources available to them.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage a diary and conduct multiple appointments daily.
- Proficiency with basic technology for scheduling, calls, and record-keeping.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar support or liaison role.
- Familiarity with SEN charities, groups, and online communities.
- Training in safeguarding or counselling (or a willingness to undergo training).
