Are you a qualified and experienced Social Worker looking to make a real impact in children's lives? We are seeking a dedicated Assessment Team Social Worker to join Powys County Council, conducting timely and high-quality assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families. This role offers a hybrid working model, allowing a balance of remote work and essential in-person visits.

Role Overview:

As a Social Worker in the Assessment Team, you will be responsible for undertaking Section 47 Child Protection and Section 17 Child in Need assessments, working closely with children, families, and partner agencies to identify risks and support interventions. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding children and ensuring the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive child and family assessments to determine support needs and risks.
  • Undertake Section 47 (Child Protection) and Section 17 (Child in Need) assessments in line with statutory guidelines.
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and police, to provide a coordinated response.
  • Develop and implement care and support plans that prioritise child welfare and family stability.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and other relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records on social care systems.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree/Diploma in Social Work).
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience in children’s services, front-door assessments, or safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection procedures, safeguarding legislation, and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage caseloads effectively, and make evidence-based decisions.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
