We are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Outdoor Learning Instructor within Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) team with a primary base of Thames Young Mariners in Ham, near Richmond. There is a possible option of accommodation for the right applicant.

At Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD), we offer our visitors carefully facilitated bespoke programmes in the outdoors, creating positive learning outcomes and experiences. We strive for high quality in everything we do, including health and safety matters, our customer experience, our facilities, our range of services and our staff.

About the Role

The Senior Outdoor Learning Instructor is a pivotal role, with a remit to manage, deliver and develop resources and quality outdoor learning opportunities for our customers.

The post holder will oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring customers and staff are well managed, and ensuring that the service provided is of high quality and exceeds customers' expectations. This role will also impact and shape the longer-term development of services and resources.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for interview, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Experience and skills in managing a team using performance management processes
  • Experience of planning and implementation of resources and programmes
  • Experience of preparing and maintaining for National Governing Body's (NGB's), centre recognition and health and safety inspections
  • Holder of National Governing Body qualifications and at least one at senior level relevant to the centre
  • A comprehensive understanding and extensive experience in the use of high-quality outdoor learning in a range of settings and experience of working with groups with a range of different needs
  • Ability to deal with complex logistics and customer requirements in a calm and professional approach
  • A positive and solution focussed approach
