Projects range from the decommissioning of a major power plant, redevelopment of a zoo, basements, new build care homes, fancy London private houses, swimming pools, cliff lookouts for bird watchers, buildings made out of straw bales, temporary works, historic buildings, timber structures and some of the more ordinary RC frame buildings too - really all sorts and sizes!The firm has around 15 staff, has been running over 10 years, employs architects, structural and civil engineers, and their Devon site is currently their larger office. The Director has recently moved to London full time, with a view to now focusing on expanding and developing their London branch. This is a very interesting and exciting time for the business, and a great opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to join a firm that has lots of cool projects coming in thick and fast, a low staff turnover, a high proportion of Chartered engineers and strong links to both the ICE and IStructE. They take CPD seriously - as well as the social side of the company as well. The London office is aiming to double in size as soon as the right people can be found - the office space is ready and waiting with several spare chairs. You will gain all the benefits of the flexible nature of working for a small firm including autonomy for your own projects and being able to work very closely with the very knowledgeable hands on Director.Richmond is an awesome work location - plentiful shops and eateries, great transport links via bus, train and tube, green spaces, Richmond Park and right by the River Thames. This role is aimed at a structural engineer experienced with a range of London buildings stock, in possession of excellent communication skills and with a wide ranging skill set. The role will include hands on design, calcs, drawings, attending sites, meetings, surveys, reports, analysing building defects and working on both new builds and refurbs. Future management opportunities can be readily available to the right candidate as the office grows.Twice yearly profit share related bonuses are normally paid out to all staff (typically a significant amount), 25 days holiday with option to buy/sell additional, healthcare package provided, laptop and mobile.Sam Robson
