About the Role:
The Special Needs Classroom Assistant will be responsible for providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs. You will assist with the adaptation of lessons and activities to ensure accessibility for all students. Your role will involve offering emotional, social, and academic support to students, helping them overcome obstacles to their learning and fostering independence and confidence in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with special educational needs in the classroom, helping them engage with lessons and activities.
  • Support individual learning plans and provide tailored one-to-one or group support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and support students with their social and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents to track and review student progress.
  • Assist with any personal care needs and ensure student safety throughout the day.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is preferred.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to a variety of learning needs.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) are desirable.
