Role Overview:
This is an opportunity to step into a senior structural engineering role, leading projects from inception to completion, ensuring top-tier design quality and service for clients. You'll be responsible for guiding teams, managing resources, and maintaining efficiency within set budgetary and time constraints, while also fostering strong client relationships.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Membership in the Institution of Structural Engineers (IEng or CEng)
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Codes of Practice, Eurocodes, Design Standards, Building Regulations, and Health and Safety Legislation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other drawing and structural analysis software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proven ability to coordinate project workflows

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Project Management:
  • Oversee structural design and drawing production
  • Prepare fee quotes and manage project budgets
  • Lead projects to ensure design quality and client satisfaction within budget and time constraints
  • Coordinate team efforts with engineers and project members
  • Fully understand the client's brief, project scope, and budget to ensure all goals are met
  • Manage all phases of the project, including design, assessments, investigations, drawings, specifications, and coordination with other disciplines
  • Guarantee work is of the highest standard, aligned with the client's brief and commercial awareness
  • Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Building Regulations
  • Ensure all project documents are up-to-date, accurate, and meet quality standards
  • Keep track of project progress, ensuring deadlines and quality checks are adhered to
  • Regularly review design documentation and correspondence, ensuring clarity and accuracy

Project Delivery & Cost Control:
  • Manage project costs and resources, ensuring profitability targets are met
  • Work with the Associate/Directors to assess resources and budget requirements
  • Produce detailed schedules and work plans to track progress
  • Monitor and report on any changes in project scope or cost
  • Maintain accurate records of changes or additional costs, discussing significant alterations with senior leadership

Staff Development & Motivation:
  • Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment
  • Stay in close contact with team members to understand their abilities, performance, and technical development
  • Encourage professional development and keep the team informed about project objectives
  • Promote engagement through regular discussions and site visits
  • Support staff through mentorship, handling any concerns and referring them to senior management when needed

Technical Expertise & Personal Growth:
  • Keep up with industry trends through ongoing reading and professional development
  • Ensure knowledge of relevant regulations and technical standards is up-to-date
  • Continually enhance software skills and operational competence
  • Focus on developing both technical and management abilities
  • Maintain a personal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) plan to stay ahead of industry advancements
