Lead Software Engineer / Developer (Node.js) WFH to £80k

Would you like to work on complex and interesting AI based systems with a team of tech entrepreneurs?

You could be joining a growing start-up that is utilising Machine Learning and AI technology to revolutionise fish farming, improving fish health and growth; their carbon neutral technology is already making a difference in Scotland, Chile, and Canada, Australia, Spain and Norway, and the company has ambitious growth plans.

As a Lead Software Engineer you'll remain hands-on across the full tech stack with a focus on backend engineering whilst also providing technical / team leadership to a small team. You'll ensure technical standards are upheld, working with Node.js, TypeScript, React and Terraform on software to control IoT hardware devices that are onsite with the client.

This is a senior, impactful role where you'll drive process improvements, and work closely with the CTO on technical strategy.

Location / WFH:

You can work from home remotely from anywhere in the UK with the caveat you'll join the team for occasional meet-ups in their Richmond (Surrey / South West London) office, there is also flexibility to work abroad for periods throughout the year and flexible start and finish times. There are two company 'kick-off' meetings per year at great destinations for a week at a time.

About you:

  • You have strong technical skills with js, TypeScript, React and Terraform
  • You have experience of working with hardware and IoT devices
  • You have a strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals and software engineering best practices
  • You have strong technical / team leadership and stakeholder communication skills
  • You have a good knowledge of Agile methodologies
