Our client islooking to strengthen their Engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in the Maple Lodge area with hybrid working available.You will be reporting directly to the Regional Mechanical Lead.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Report to Principal Engineer, Design Managers, Technical Discipline Lead and Regional Discipline Lead
  • Producing design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively
  • Producing and checking of all design deliverables including specifications, schedules, drawings and calculations
  • Working alongside other disciplines for the development of site/plant 3D model
  • Ensure that standard designs & practices are utilised wherever possible
  • Delivering the design stage outputs of each project within the agreed timescale and budget
  • Coordinating design outputs across all technical disciplines
  • Provide estimates and feedback for Proposals department
  • Establish working relationships with construction staff and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs
  • Write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department
  • Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts
  • To work within a culture where satisfying the customer is recognised as the key to achieving other objectives, and that customers include everyone receiving benefit from our processes, whether end users or other departments within the company
  • Maintain a personal development plan
  • Assist in supervising and developing staff
  • Ensure designs take account of environmental issues
  • Ensure that design takes full regard of all CDM 2015 Regulations and health and safety requirements

Essential skills:

  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering principles including structures, materials, hydraulics and environmental engineering
  • Understanding of the principles of water and sewage treatment
  • Have experience of managing/mentoring members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants
  • Membership of a professional institution chartered or nearing chartership
  • Relevant discipline Engineering degree would be preferable
  • Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts
  • Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management
  • Working knowledge of roles and responsibility under CDM 2015 Regulations
  • Working knowledge of industry standards (BS, WIMES, BSRIA, etc.), HSE regulatory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR 2000, DSEAR, etc.), The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (Reg31), Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), etc
  • Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly

Desirable skills:

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status
  • Relevant Engineering Masters Degree
